Short answer: the Home app can control robot vacuums that support Matter, on iOS 18.4 or later with an Apple TV or HomePod as the hub. Sources name Roomba (four models), Roborock (seven in 2025), Ecovacs, SwitchBot and Dreame; Eufy, Narwal and Shark are unconfirmed. The Home app starts, stops and schedules cleans — maps and no-go zones stay in the maker's app.

The answer comes straight from the chart below. Support changes with firmware — confirm your exact model and firmware with the maker before you buy.

Rows are robot vacuums, columns are the four questions that matter before you buy. “Partly” means announced or true with a catch — the note says which; “Unverified” means we found no source either way — we never guess. The dot under each cell shows how good the source is.

What to do, by situation
iPhone owner who wants room-by-room cleaning from the Home app: The SwitchBot K11+ and S20 are the one pair where a source says it outright: HomeKit News reports Matter 1.4 gives section cleaning in Apple Home. For other brands we found no maker page that confirms rooms for a specific model. See the chart row ↓
Roomba owner: The Combo 10 Max, Plus 500 Combo, Max 700 Vac and Max 700 Combo work with Matter; pair them from the Roomba Home app under Connected Services. The Combo j7 and j9 were reported as not supported, with no 2026 confirmation. See the chart row ↓
Roborock owner: Roborock's newsroom lists seven models that got Matter firmware in April 2025: the S8 MaxV Ultra, Saros 10, Saros 10R, Saros Z70, Qrevo Curv, Qrevo Edge and Qrevo Master. Roborock says it planned the S8 Max Ultra and Qrevo Slim next; we found no confirmation. See the chart row ↓
Ecovacs or Dreame owner: 9to5Mac names eight Deebots and four Dreames that got Matter firmware updates. Update the vacuum in its own app first, then add it in the Home app. See the chart row ↓
Buyer who wants maps, no-go zones or the camera inside the Home app: That's not possible with Matter today. Matter Alpha says the Home app lacks mapping, no-go zone and mop-drying controls, so you keep the maker's app for those.
Shark or Narwal owner: We found no Matter or Apple Home support for Shark, and Narwal's Flow only had a promised update. Check the maker's own page before you buy for Apple Home. See the chart row ↓
What Matter and the Home app do for a robot vacuum
Matter is the smart-home standard that lets a vacuum from one maker show up in Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa. Coverage of iOS 18.4 says that release added robot-vacuum support to the Home app through Matter.
You need a home hub. Sources describing the Roomba setup say an iPhone on iOS 18.4 or later plus an Apple TV or HomePod.
What the Home app does. Matter Alpha lists whole-home cleaning, room selection and exclusion, pause, resume and docking, suction and mop-power settings, status alerts, and scheduling, scenes and automations.
What it doesn't. Matter Alpha says the Home app lacks mapping, no-go zones and mop-drying settings, so keep the maker's app for those.
Firmware decides. Roborock, Ecovacs and Dreame added Matter to existing models by firmware, in phases; iRobot did the same for three Roombas in December 2025.
Before you buy
Check your exact model, not just the series: makers moved specific models, and the chart names them.
Confirm Matter and Apple Home on the maker's own page; support has been added and withdrawn before (the Roomba j7 and j9).
Plan for a home hub — an Apple TV or HomePod — and iOS 18.4 or later.
If you need maps or no-go zones, you will still use the maker's app.
Don't trust one news post. Where a cell shows a yellow or grey dot, confirm with the maker.
Robot vacuum and Apple Home FAQ
Does Apple Home work with robot vacuums?
Yes, for vacuums that support Matter. Coverage of the iOS 18.4 release says the Home app gained robot-vacuum support through Matter. You need iOS 18.4 or later and a home hub such as an Apple TV or HomePod. Not every model qualifies — the chart shows which ones the sources name.
What can the Home app do with a robot vacuum?
Matter Alpha lists whole-home cleaning, room selection and exclusion, pause, resume and docking, suction and mop-power settings, a lost-vacuum chime, status alerts, and scheduling, scenes and automations. It adds that availability can be limited to certain vendors and models. Sources also say Siri can start a clean.
What can't I do from the Home app?
Matter Alpha says the Home app has a startling lack of support for mapping, defining no-go zones and mop-drying adjustments, so it recommends keeping the maker's app installed.
Do I need an Apple TV or HomePod?
Yes, a home hub. Sources describing the Roomba setup say you need a device on iOS 18.4 or later and a home hub, with Apple TV and HomePod supported.
Does my Roomba work with Apple Home?
The Roomba Combo 10 Max, Plus 500 Combo, Max 700 Vac and Max 700 Combo do, per AppleInsider and 9to5Mac. A news report says the Combo j7 and j9 lost Matter and aren't certified; we found no 2026 confirmation they came back. iRobot completed its sale to Picea in January 2026, according to iRobot's release.
Which Roborock models support Matter?
Roborock's newsroom lists the S8 MaxV Ultra, Saros Z70, Saros 10, Saros 10R, Qrevo Curv, Qrevo Edge and Qrevo Master, with firmware rolled out April 1–10, 2025. A Saros 20 review reports native Matter support. Roborock also said it planned to add the S8 Max Ultra and Qrevo Slim.
Is Matter 1.4 needed for room cleaning?
HomeKit News ties section cleaning in Apple Home to Matter 1.4 on the SwitchBot K11+ and S20. We found no maker page that states the Matter version for other models, so their rooms cells stay Unverified.
Why doesn't my vacuum appear in the Home app?
Likely causes from the sources: the model isn't on the maker's Matter list, the firmware update hasn't reached your region yet (Ecovacs and Roborock rolled updates out in phases), or you have no home hub. Update the vacuum in its own app first, then add it from Connected Services or with the Matter code.
Do Matter vacuums also work with Google Home and Alexa?
Roborock names Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa, and Notebookcheck says the Combo 10 Max works with Apple Home, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings. We found no model-specific report for most others, so those cells say Unverified.
Where does this chart's information come from?
Maker pages where we could read them (Roborock's newsroom, Eufy's and Ecovacs' blogs), and named news, review and forum reports for the rest. Each cell shows how good its source is, and cells with no source say Unverified. We do not bench-test vacuums.
